Cover the whole chain.

Most food safety conversations focus on one side of the equation – either the plant environment or the product itself. Real protection needs both. PairingÌýJIMCO’sÌýUV-C and ozone disinfection technology withÌý³§³Ù²¹±ô²¹³¾â€™sÌýradio frequency (RF) pasteurization gives processors a chemical-free way to cover the entire chain, from the air and surfaces the product touches to the product itself.

How they complement each other: JIMCO’s patented FLO-D technology uses UV-C light to convert oxygen into ozone, which oxidizes bacteria, viruses, mold, and spores on surfaces and in the air – no chemicals, no filters, no water.

Stalam’sÌýRF technology then takes care of the product itself, generating heat volumetrically inside the food rather than relying onÌýhot air, water, or steam to transfer heat in from the outside, killing pathogens fast and uniformly without overcooking the product.Ìý

Jimco's ozone disinfection maintains the integrity of your clean room environment

A few examples of how this plays out on the plant floor:Ìý

  • Cold storage rooms – most JIMCO FLO-D models can treat up to 1,500 m³ of cold storage space, helping extend the shelf life of fresh produce by up to 14 days*.Ìý
  • Between-shift surface disinfection – FLO-D systems run automatically after cleaning crews leave for the day, disinfecting equipment and surfaces overnight with next to zero manual labor and no water use.Ìý
  • Fish and seafood processing facilities – JIMCO air purification reduces odor and airborne contamination plant-wide, while Stalam RF handles in-line pasteurization orÌýdisinfectionÌýof the product itself.Ìý

Radio Frequency Pasteurization with Stalam Sanipack+

Why this combination matters:Ìý

✓ÌýNo chemicals at either stage —Ìýboth technologies rely on physics (UV-C/ozone and electromagnetic energy), not disinfectants or sanitizing agents.Ìý

✓ÌýUp to 99.9% pathogen reduction —ÌýdemonstratedÌýeffectiveness against bacteria, viruses, mold, and allergens.Ìý

✓ÌýFaster, more uniform results —ÌýRF heats product volumetrically in minutes; ozone treatment works in hours without sealing the room – FLO-D technology is used in unoccupied rooms for safety.

✓ÌýLower operating costs —Ìýno water, no chemical consumables, and significant energy savings compared to conventional methods.ÌýAÌýpositiveÌýenvironmental solution!Ìý

One covers the environment. One covers the product. Together, a more complete disinfection strategy.

Spent Coffee Grounds aren’t waste /spent-coffee-ground/ Mon, 17 Aug 2026 20:05:15 +0000 /?p=16600

They're Untapped Yield.

The average coffee process only extracts about 15-20% of a bean’s mass into the cup. The rest is typically discarded as spent grounds, even though it still holds flavor and extractable yield, usually 20-30%. Flavourtech’s Rotating Disc Column (RDC) is built to capture that value instead of throwing it away.

How it works: spent coffee grounds are milled into a cold-water slurry, then passed through Flavourtech’s Rotating Disc Column — the grounds are heated to the desired temperature, and a continuous hydrolysis step is completed in 20 minutes. The solids are then separated from the extract and it is clarified to the required level. Based on precise temperature control and hold time, RDC coffee extract creates high yields without the typical intense acidity of soluble coffee. Customers can choose a process temperature which balances yield and flavor depending on the demands of the final product. The extract can also be concentrated to almost any level with their Centritherm® evaporator technology.

Coarse Ground Coffee and coffee beans

The result: upcycled coffee extract that boosts Brix, replaces soluble coffee,
and lowers costs – all without compromising quality.

Spent coffee grounds process

Why this approach stands out:Ìý

  • Recovers yield otherwise lost — Flavourtech’s RDC can uniquely be used to recover yield from spent coffee grounds, instead of sending that material to waste.
  • Preserves real flavor — the RDC’s controlled temperature and residence time avoids high acidity, off-flavors and thermal degradation common in conventional high-heat processing.
  • Fully automated and continuous — the RDC’s design keeps throughput consistent and operationally efficient at an industrial scale.
  • Sustainability built in — less spent material going to landfill, more usable yield and soluble solids coming out of the same raw material stream.

A smarter way to think about what happens after the cup is brewed.
